Acne is simply a part of your life when you are in your teen years. For people who don’t need a strong cleanser the salicylic acid content is only strong enough to do some basic cleaning and bacteria killing. Salicylic acid should not be used regularly when you get older and your skin has gotten thinner and more sensitive. If you are a fan of makeup either try to wear less of it or try to find makeup that is lighter on your skin. Buy makeup that has sunscreen in it instead of buying separate products and putting more clogging materials into your pores. Some makeup companies even produce products that are infused with vitamins that your skin needs to be healthy. Choosing your makeup based on its price could be the worst thing you could do for your skin. You don’t want to put on too much makeup. You want to make “less makeup” your goal. It is still possible to look great even though you aren’t wearing dozens of layers of product! This is also important: do not go to bed with makeup still on your face. Leaving your makeup on while you sleep is one of the best ways to give yourself acne.
Take care to protect your skin against the sun’s rays. For people whose goal is to keep their pores free of clogs, spreading on thick sunscreen probably seems counterintuitive. Today there are plenty of oil free sunscreens available.
Gone are the days of only having heavy and oily sunscreen lotions to choose from. Instead of forcing yourself to choose between heavy lotions, now you can choose light lotions or sprays to protect your skin. Just remember: tanning does not keep pimples away. It just puts you at risk for skin cancer. The best way to treat an acne breakout is also the most basic way to treat an acne breakout: wash your face and don’t pick at your zits. Other breakouts will require you to use something a little bit more powerful than a basic cleanser.
